The Sing-A-Ma-Jig

Shopping for Christmas this year, proved to be a little difficult. Shopping for Homey is expensive and he only got to open a few gifts. And then there is Homeboy's Christmas gifts. So much more fun to shop for! I would imagine Homeboy's reaction while opening gifts, Christmas morning. I imagined him laughing and squealing with glee!
"Mom, look! Look! I godda Wegos!"
On one particular Christmas, shopping, excursion, I noticed 3 little girls huddled around the Sing-A-Ma-Jig display. They would push on bellies of the Sing-A-Ma-Jig's, and then a cloud of sweet, giggles, would explode around them. I couldn't help but smile and giggle to myself.
"I bet Homeboy would love a Sing-A-Ma-Jig!"
I just knew Homeboy would love the greenish one that harmonizes in deep, low tones!
Christmas morning came and I was anxious for Homeboy to open his Sing-A-Ma-Jig. I couldn't wait for him to push on it's belly and have his donkey-like, laughter, follow.
He quickly opened the package and gave it a "look". He wasn't sure what it was and what to do with it, so I pushed it's belly and waited for his reaction.
His reaction wasn't quite what I thought it would be. He immediately scowled at the
Sing-A-Ma-Jig, chucked it across our living room and said, "I don't wike dat thing!"
I tried with all of my might to make it funny and fun to him, but instead I ended up scaring the poor child. Great. Nightmares, "mother issues", and trips to the psychologist are sure to be in his future.
For the following week, if Homeboy happened to come upon Mr. Sing-A-Ma-Jig, he would throw across the room and repeat his first verbal reaction, "I don't wike dat thing!"
Okay, I get it. He hates it. I stink at Christmas shopping. And I am the root of all of issues that he will have in his adult life. Therefore, I hid it. Deep within the dark corners of my bedroom closet. A corner so dark, no one would dare to venture it.
Then one day, I opened the fridge. And this is what I found.
Laying flat on it's back, next to a chocolate pie, Mr. Sing-A-Ma-Jig.
Apparently Homeboy tried to freeze it to death. Possibly he thought exposure to the "elements" could cause a severe case of frostbite and amputation would be necessary. Ahem.
Next year, Steve can do ALL of the Christmas shopping.

Personal challenge

I've come to a decision. It's not a monumental decision. It's not a decision that will change my life, but it's a decision that I feel could help me. I've decided to challenge myself to return my old blogging frequency. I'm hoping it will lift my spirits. Remember how I use to post ridiculous things from my past, and about my ocd tendencies? I miss those days.
This past year has been difficult for me as a mother. Oh don't get me wrong... I love being a mom to my two boys! But you see, I seem to have given birth to a Tasmanian devil. A beast-child. Never, did I ever imagine that these last two years of his life would have been the most difficult I have ever encountered, so far. Homeboy can now take off the childproof door knob thingys. My husband tried to superglue the one on Homey's bedroom door and he managed to rip it off within hours. I have found myself unable to do anything. And I am not kidding. Today he glued his legs, the kitchen counter top, and some of the wood floor. While I am cleaning that mess, he quickly moves on to the next mess. I have cleaned every wall in my house at least 3-4 times, each, since April. He's my artist. I have to be "on guard" at all hours of the day. While I went to the laundry room to retrieve some pants from the dryer, he quickly got into my church bag and colored some pretty pictures in the RS role binder. He doesn't sleep, he never stops, and to make matters worse... he so stinkin' cute.
I'm mentally exhausted.
I need to feel funny again. I need to feel like my old self, by golly! So even if it takes me having to tie Homeboy to the leg of the kitchen table, to get things done around here, well then so be it! (don't worry. I'm sure Homeboy will be able to free himself from his tethers within minutes. He'll chew his way through the rope.)
Wish me luck. Pray for me. And if you happen to be a boyscout, I need a refresher course on tying knots.

Bring on the Christmas

I'm doing a happy dance, people! And the reason why I'm dancing a lil gig is that the RS Christmas Party is DONE! Everything was wonderful... except for the odd silence that followed when I tried to "que" our Santa to come in. I hadn't really prepared for it, and I flopped. But oh well! It's DONE!

I've been a little preoccupied with all of the party prep so I've been a "bad blogger".

Bad blogger! Bad blogger! (slapping the top of my own hand)

And now I am ready for Christmas to begin! Bring it on, man!

Bring on the decorating! Bring on the neighbor gifts! Bring on the craft projects! Bring on the gift purchasing! Bring on me trying to protect and defend our Christmas tree from our wild 2 year old!

I'm ready.
Did I happen to mention that the RS Christmas Party is DONE?

(pics of the RS Christmas Party to follow soon)
* I don't know what the crap is going on with the middle of this post. I've tried to fix it, but it just aint workin'! Blame Blogger.

Random-nous

You may notice that every post I blog about has a purpose. That's just the way I groove, man. Whether it's about crazy Conner, something I've made, or something that I have OCD'd about, there is always a purpose or theme.
Well today I am throwing caution into the wind! This month has thrown me into a downward spiral of disarray. It's been a month of sickness for me. It started off with the pukes and has now turned into an endless, monotony of coughing. It's not a bad cough. It's the 'tickle in the back of your throat' kind of cough. But it's enough to make me want to pull my hair out. I wonder if I have allergies. I've never had to deal with allergies and totally feel for anyone that has to deal with them. But then I don't have the itchy, watery eyes, or the sniffles and runny nose. Just a stupid cough. A cough that has tested the strength of my bladder for the last few weeks. (those of you that have given birth know what I mean. or not. maybe my bladder is just dorky.)
cough*hack*cough
See what I mean.
cough*hackin'*cough*hackin'
Again with the coughing!
Since I've decided to throw caution into the wind, I decided to post about some recent happenings and pictures that our little family has experienced.
Soccer season is finally over. Amen.
Here are some cool action shots of my oldest, little man. Our poor team struggled this year. It was an uphill battle the whole way, but they tried with all of their might. He forgot his jersey on this particular day. Sheesh.
Conner enjoyed running away or running onto the field, during the entire game. He also enjoyed giving a soccer ball a ride in his stroller.
And then check out that coach... (insert whistle - Woot! Woo!)

sorry

A couple of weeks ago, our school's 5th graders put on a 'Wax Museum' display.

Cody chose to be Wilbur Wright - co-inventor of the airplane. I quickly sewed this nifty vest, threw a hat on him and called it good. I tried to convince Cody to put a bald head piece on, 'cause the dude was bald, but Cody wasn't cool with that.

Do you like the pose he chose. He decided to look down, so he wouldn't have to look at all of the people gawking at him.

I had a good time, making his friends crack up.

cough*hack*cough

excuse me

And look at that poster on the left! I thought he was going to be graded on it and I made Cody put in some extra effort in decorating it and stuff. After the 'Wax Museum' tour, I realized that we really didn't have to put much effort into it. He only got points for bringing a poster. Lame.

Last night, as I was watering my flowers, I found this...

No, not the veiny, sinewy, muscular arm. The snake. The poor thing was so frightened of us, he pooped and peed in defense. Which is exactly what I would do. And I'm not ashamed to admit it.

I'm really not that afraid of snakes. As long as I find them first and they don't find me.

Conner enjoyed the snake and wanted to toss a football back and forth with him. He chucked the football at him, but the snake was not amused.

cough*hackin'*hackin'*cough

insert cough drop

I bought a lawnmower for Conner yesterday, since no one else seems to want to mow our lawn. He didn't mow our lawn but he did mow our driveway. Over and over again. His mower also comes equipped with bubbles. Yeah, I went for the up-grade model.

He has also decided to start scaling the walls and appliances. I've decided that he will be Spiderman for Halloween this year.

Last week I took him to get his haircut and I brought re-reinforcements (Steve and Cody). The last time he had a haircut it was a disaster! And that's putting it mildly. We blamed his attitude and tornadic acts on lack of sleep. Apparently we were wrong. So very wrong.

I don't know what happened. His first few haircuts went without any horrendous fits. He was so angelic-like. All passer-bys would 'oooo and awwww' at the cute baby. Long gone are those days. Steve had to sit with him and restrain him while I held his head. I wanted him to just have a trim, but instead I screamed to the hairdresser over the loud and constant whaling, "Buzz the kid! For heaven's sake, buzz him!"

(sigh)

I miss his hair. His hair was part of his trademark. It was floppy, yet Alfalfa-like, all at the same time. (sigh)

So there you have it. Just a few random pics and stories of our recent going-on's.

What's up with me?

So have you noticed I haven't posted an OCD Calendar post for a while? Have you noticed I haven't had a Flashback (click HERE to reminisce) recently? Or how about a silly anecdote of the wild and crazy shenanigans that Conner has been up to? What's up with me? What's my problem?!?!?!

The answer: I've been busy. And I was sick and my oldest fruit of my loin was sick. Which, as you know, can cause your world to spiral downward, outward, and every "ward" known to man. But I'm finally seeing the light at the end of tunnel!

Be patient with me, my friends. Stick with me! I don't know what I would do with out you! Please! (A little desperate, no?) Next week I plan on picking myself up, dusting myself off, and be back to being a blogging maniac. And for being so patient with me, I will have a GIVEAWAY/CONTEST next week! Wahoooo!

Stay tuned for bountiful bloggious-nes!
