OCD Tendencies - cleaning tips that maybe someone will be interested in. Or not.

As you may have noticed, I no longer post my OCD calendar. Quite frankly, I thought it was getting a little boring. And I was beginning to feel immense pressure to have my ENTIRE house clean, all of the time. And everyone knows that is impossible when you are mother to Homey. Homey, who likes to drink lotion, diaper medicine (can you drink Desitin?), and eye drops. And just to let you know...I called Poison Control 2 times in December. They know me by name now. We have a deep, personal relationship.

So due to the sheer exhaustion of trying to keep up with Homey, I decided to just share a cleaning or organization tip with you, once in a while.

One of my pet peeves is dust. Especially the dust that sits on top of my pot shelf and kitchen cabinets. Oh how I loathe thee!

I read about this tip, many moons ago. In some magazine. But it has been one of my favs!

Place sheets of newspaper, or paper, on top of your high shelves or tops of cabinets. This will make dusting and cleaning so much easier! Just fold up the papers with all of the dust inside and chuck it! Then replace with new paper.

It's magic, baby!

  1. First of all, thank you for reading that blog and for your prayers!! Next, are you saying I should just put paper over all my "tops" and just replace it every once in a while? Because I am now under the impression that paper over all the baskets and stuff on one shelf would be amazingly helpful with the dust and grime from the kitchen. I will also add paper to my TV and desk tops. Or I'll just ignore the dust. It's something I've grown perfect in!

  3. Great idea, so simple yet I've never thought of it. I'm like Jennie, as gross as the dust and grime are we've become quite aquainted with one another.

  5. Jen thank you, I was going to clean the tops of my cabinets this week (well I've said that for a while now) so I'm way excited to put paper down after then no more scrubbing for me! Great tip....

  6. Wonderful idea! I...too...ignore Dust Jennie...and dead leaves from my plants up there...and some spider webs. I know you are cringing Jen!! Come on over and give me a hand - Jake and Homey can duke it out in the basement.

  7. Definitely need to give this one a try. We have some high spots that this would work great on. I loved your post below. I remember a boy coming to pick up my little sister for a date in a hooters shirt. I was so ticked, unfortunately it didn't seem to bother anyone else as much as me. The guy turned out to be scum and he hurt my sister very bad. Not that all this comes from wearing a hooters shirt, but I don't believe anyone that wants to take a sweet girl to the temple someday should be wearing one or set foot inside a restaurant like that. Wow, I'll get off my soap box now!

  8. Um, that pic of 'Homey' is freaking hilarious. He has the look of pure, happy, EVIL in his eyes.

Tell me what you think... only if it compliments me and my, sometimes humorous, sometimes weird, sometimes creative, post! No meanies allowed!
