Proud to be an American! Part 2

The 4th of July is quickly coming upon us and I have cupcakes to bake and crafts to create! My creative juices are - a - flowin'!

For today's post, for my 4th of July series, I especially love the many freedoms that our country has. Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, the right to bear arms...

How awesome is our country?!?!?!

And how lucky are we that we do have the freedom of speech! I can't imagine not having the opportunity or choice to read some of the most awesome blogs available!

If I want to take a stroll in my neighborhood and sing The Hills Are Alive from The Sound of Music at the top of my lungs...I can! Sure my neighbors may call the cops to pick me up for drunk - singing, but hey, I have the freedom to do so!

If I choose to sport the feminine version of the, all too famous hair style, the mullet, I can!

And I did.

Ex-boyfriend mullet.

Hair piece mullet.

A family of mullets!

Hair sweater and mullet. I'm feeling itchy just looking at this picture.

A couple of days ago me and Homeboy made some 4th of July pinwheels. And may I just say... pinwheels make me giddy with happiness! They're colorful, they spin... What's not to like?

To make our pinwheels I cut out 5 inch squares, out of double-sided scrapbook paper/card stock, with my Cricut machine.

Then I cut about a 3 inch long line, in each corner, towards the center.

I put a small piece of double-stick tape in the center of the square and pulled up one corner to the center. Repeat folding every other corner to the center. I used a glue gun to hold each corner in place and then I topped it with a button.

Then I glued them to clothespins.

If you want your pinwheels to spin, stick a straight pin through the center of the pinwheel, place a pony bead behind the pinwheel, then stick the end of the straight pin into either a pencil eraser, a straw, or a wood dowel!

Cheap entertainment for Homeboy!

Happy 4th y'all!

Remember to please share what you love about our dear 'ol country in your comments! And you know I love comments... it warms the chambers of my heart.

  1. Those pin wheels are SO cute! I need to make me some. Goodness, what DON'T I love about this country? Freedom of Speech is huge, and I love that we have freedom with the arts - we can perform plays and shows and create entertainment. It's near and dear to my heart and I love that I have the freedom to express creativity. God Bless America!

  2. You're crafty... in more ways than one.

Ick on the hair sweater. If I was married to that guy, I'd learn how to wax that stuff off just so I didn't have to look at it or be near it. Ew.

I love that we live in a country to have the freedom to go buy the stuff we need to make creative things like this :)

Tell me what you think... only if it compliments me and my, sometimes humorous, sometimes weird, sometimes creative, post! No meanies allowed!
