Proud to be an American!

I love the 4th of July! I love everything about it. I love that our beloved country celebrates it's birthday with parades of fire engines, horses, rodeo queens, and kids peddling down the streets in their brightly, colored, decked out rides (trikes and bikes). I love that we celebrate it with our friends and families with annual barbeques and fireworks! And then there are the colors...seas of red, white, and blue, decorating almost every doorstep and street corner! Awwww, America! Oh how I love thee!

For the next several days I will be sharing what I love about our dear country and I hope that each of you will share what you love about America, also!

One of the things that I love about our country is our public schools! We are so blessed to have such wonderful, dedicated, and talented teachers. Especially my third grade teacher, Mrs. Patch. I really think she would be very proud of my mad spelling skillz...
(please note the banner below. yup, my nickname is Genius.)

The 4th of July also brings plenty of opportunities to be creative with our treats!

Today I made cupcakes for my Visiting Teaching route and for some friends. I found these cute cupcake paper wraps! How fun are they? 4th of July sprinkles are from Roberts. Love them. Couldn't resist them.

Do you see those blue cupcakes in the background that resemble the same color of a Smurf? I divided the batter by thirds and colored two of the thirds with food coloring. One blue and one red. I then layered the batter in the papers and then baked them. They turned out soooo cool! Think of all the colors you can layer? The possibilities are endless!

Awesome.

Well, it was awesome, until this happen...

Cupcake mayhem!

How about that dagger stuck in the frosting can? Huh? Huh? Do I see a cake artist/decorator in the future?

  1. What a great idea to layer the colors of the batter! They turned out so cute! Where did you find the cupcake wraps?

  2. LOVE the cupcakes. TOO cute. You're super creative, Jen.

Too bad you have that ragga-muffin ruining your efforts now and then (though I'm sure you don't mind too much)!

  3. Cute cupcakes! I made similar ones for Konner's birthday on Friday, but I used the 5 colors of the "Chuggington" trains and they turned out super cute. I'm sorry it is a bit chaotic around your parts, I can truly empathize with you. I really think that we should petition "Webster's dictionary" to add K/Conner to the dictionary with the following definition: master of mayhem, destroyer of all, mischief-loving handsome little boy you can't help but love!

Tell me what you think... only if it compliments me and my, sometimes humorous, sometimes weird, sometimes creative, post! No meanies allowed!
