I did it. I conquered the cabinet, shown below, and cleaned every nook and cranny. I threw out old food and organized the food by their categories and placed all of my paper and plastic goods into a convenient plastic bin, and a plastic utensil caddy thingy.
I place the top shelf, with baking items. Such as baking soda, baking powder, vanilla, sprinkles, etc. By keeping like items in one spot it prevents un-needed foot work and time. And heaven knows I need all of the time I can get. And my feet deserve a rest once in a while.
The next shelf contains all of our boxed dinners. You know those dinners that I tend to make when I'm too tired to make anything else or come up with a brilliant dinner plan. Which seems to be happening more often than it should.
The next shelf holds all of my jello and pudding mix assortments, chocolate chips, oats, and stuff. A whole lot of stuff.
Then finally the last shelf is where I place paper plates, straws, plastic cups, and plastic utensils. Before, things were just tossed in haphazardly. Like we didn't have a care in the world. Then every time we needed a plastic spoon, it was like digging through a haystack for a needle. Chaos I tell ya!
Now thanks to these handy, yet cheap containers, I longer fret when I need to retrieve paper plates. Organization make my heart go pitter pat.
Behold! The organization!
This week I plan on beginning to de-junk and organize my baby's room. He really doesn't have much junk, but I have noticed an accumulation of utensils in his toy bin/basket. Weird.
Come to think of it...he does seem to have an odd fascination with utensils.
I will be putting clothes that he has out grown and that I just can't bare to get rid of, in storage and washing his crib skirt and crib bumpers. Once I am done de-junking, then I will be washing the walls and baseboards of Conner's room. Let the good times roll!
On another day I will be cleaning and organizing the set of cabinets above my fridge and cleaning the top of my fridge. I know you are thrilled.
So here's the plan...clean the cabinets above your fridge (if you have some), wipe clean the top of your fridge, and de-junk and clean the walls of a bedroom. It can be anyone's bedroom! It can be your aunt Hortense's room. Or your second cousin's, college roommate's brother, Ralph. Who keeps a collection of toe jam under his pillow. I know. What's wrong with me?
And finally, I will be painting some more. At this rate I will never be done painting my room. I can just spit! And you know who is to blame? Them. The three boys that I live with. The three boys that demand all of my extra attention and time! The three boys that have horrible aim and seem to have a rare birth defect called, "Idontknowhowtocleanupaftermyself-itis". They stink. Literally.
WOW!! You are like organized to the "T" I could learn a lot from you! I need all the organizing tips I need. Love the pictures of Connor man! He is such a cutie pie!
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'll pick up the stuff on the floor this week. I don't guarantee more than that. You are awesome. you did inspire me to clean out my fridge a few weeks ago. maybe inspiration will happen again.
ReplyDeleteI am impressed by the cabinet organizing skills you have found. I need to conquer mine, although most stuff is organized together, it just needs to be re-organized.
ReplyDeleteI love that Conner has an obsession with utensils, how many kids have that??
now whenever I do major cleaning--I think of you!!
ReplyDeleteI finally cleaned out my fridge Tuesday (I will post on my blog)

You are so lucky that you like to organize! I so need to do all of those things! Especially in Layne's room he has so many clothes he has outgrown and I just keep putting it off and putting it off. I will make you a watch if you help me organize! LOL! :)
