OCD Calendar

I'm so behind on everything this week! I've had something going on every day and night this week and look forward to spending time alone in my bedroom with a paint roller, a chocolaty shade of brown paint, and those lovely paint fumes that will give me a slight buzz.

I've been preparing for our ward's food storage-palooza tonight and am looking forward to seeing everybody's displays! I will for sure, be posting pictures and info!

Last week I managed to clean under my stove. I took some pictures but I'm too lazy to load them right now. Next OCD post, my friends, next post. I actually ended up cleaning under my stove again, yesterday. Yup. I usually don't clean under my stove every week, but Conner somehow learned how to un-twist the twisty thing on the bread and massecured the entire loaf in front of the stove, under the stove and inside of the pot drawer on the stove. Oh how I treasure these moments. (ahem)

Tomorrow I will be cleaning my family room walls and baseboards and on Saturday I will begin to clean out some drawers and cabinets in my kitchen. I will be cleaning out my pantry cabinet and I plan on buying something to control our supply of paper goods, which tends to be thrown in haphazardly. (is that a word?)

A good cleaning solution to cleaning your wood cabinets is a mixture of one part mild, laundry detergent, that especially cuts oil and grease, and two parts warm water. Use a sponge, rag, or non-abrasive scrubber pad to wipe the cabinets.

I usually wipe a lot of my cabinets with soapy water, on a regular basis. I do a "deep clean" every 6 months. A product that I like is a wood cleaning product called Guardsman. It cuts through the grease and grime that builds up on your cabinets! You can purchase it at Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond and at various hardware stores. Another product is Formby's Wood Cleanser. This works very well when there is a lot of grease and ick that has built up. Formby's also has a line of wood care products that will leave your cabinets polished and shiny. Bling! You can purchase this product at your local hardware stores.

*just a little reminder.... you have til midnight, tonight, to charm me with your suggestions on what I should blog about!!!! And let me tell ya, I have been brainstorming on cute ideas of what I will be giving away. It involves something sewn, bought, and cute. Definitely cute! Pass it on!

  1. This will tell you how much I DON'T clean, or know about cleaning.

They seriously have cleaner for my cabinets that will get the grease off? I keep scrubbing with 409! That's insane. Pure insanity. INSANE!!!

Whats insane is that I thought all the cleaning products out there were pretty much the same, and even though I do have different cleaner for the bathroom/kitchen. I still thought I was ridiculous for having to many cleaners (3)

I am going to go out and get me a cleaning basket thingy and mix my own little cleaners, as you have done, and label them. Yes label. Then I will be a little more in with the cleaning crowd.

Maybe people will come over more too??

  2. Ok, I have a question. I have an icky grease build-up on my walls. How do I get that stuff off without scrubbing the paint off my walls? Do you know? I would love to know if you do :)

  3. I don't know how you do it. I don't think I even knew there was a floor for me to clean under my stove until I read this post. I thought, "Oh snap, I'm supposed to clean under there??". I will pay you to come clean my house. Seriously. Like, $20. Enticing? I thought so.

Hmmm, what to blog about! I am faced with this question more often than not. One topic that did catch my eye was the 'honey not-do list'. Sister, I can SO relate to this. My sweet, giving, loving husband decided to make us bedroom furniture with his bare hands. He presented the set to me for Christmas, albeit it wasn't quite finished, but presented it nonetheless and I was SO excited!

That was 5 years ago. The unfinished furniture still sits in our garage. Taking up space. Will it ever be done? Who knows, but you can bet that when it is finally finished, I will have something to blog about!

PS - Haphazardly? Totally a word, as far as I'm concerned.

Tell me what you think... only if it compliments me and my, sometimes humorous, sometimes weird, sometimes creative, post! No meanies allowed!
