I did this!

A couple of weeks ago our family took a little road trip to Idaho, to attend a nephew's wedding. There are a few things that can send me 'over the edge' when ever we plan a trip... 1. Will Conner be a beast? 2. Will Conner sleep through the night? and 3. The chaotic mess and debris that tends to accumulate in our vehicle. (especially the back seat)

My heart starts to pound in a 'panic type' fashion, just thinking about dvd movies and cases strewn about the car. I break out in a cold sweat when I see Cody haphazardly placing open packages of crackers, chips, and cookies on the seat. Juice boxes tipped over, making sticky messes on the car mats...kill me! Kill me now! Crumbs, crumbs everywhere! And then there are the toys that we bring, in a feeble attempt to entertain and keep our children happy for the 4 hour drive. It's a mess and it disturbs me. Mainly, because I have issues.

But then one day I happen to come upon a clever pattern, while on one of my many trips to the fabric store. "This could solve many of my 'issues' of traveling!" I thought to myself. So in one day, I sewed this nifty organizer.

I love all of the compartments! You place it on the back of the car seat by the strap at the top (which is adjustable) and the bottom ties around the base of the car seat.

I was so pleased with how my car organizer worked. Drinks were placed nicely in their designated spots. Lego magazines were nestled in the large pocket. Toys were were kept safe and easily on hand, in a pocket with a fold over flap and secured with a Velcro closure! It was lovely!

Here's another view of my car organizer, that my model is proudly displaying.

This is where I scream and pull my hair out. For some dumb reason I have been having problems uploading my pictures. And it's TICKING ME OFF! I've done all of the 'troubleshooting' fixes and.... nothing. What the crap?!?!?! Everything else is working fine!

Lately, I have been making many, many baby blankets. Here's one that I decided to do a little something different. I love how this turned out! Maybe it's because I'm surrounded by boys all day, but I tend to enjoy making the baby girl blankets more. And remember, boys do have cooties.

Still pulling my hair out.

Wouldn't it be nice to see a picture of the cute blanket that I made? I know!

And it is cute! It's brown with pink polka dots and I've sewn some cute, pink, ric rac at the bottom of the blanket. Above the ric rac, I've securely attached a pink flower with a brown center. I may just have to make a blanket for myself, because I love the flower so much.

I wish you could see it. Because it's so FLIPPIN' CUTE!

Scroll down, my friends. It's worth it.

  2. I feel so lucky to be the recipient of the blanket. Well... sort of. To Lynsie anyway. At least... she'll get it when I see her...

Am I making any sense? If Lynsie reads my comment she's going to know what her blanket looks like early.

    Oh well.

Thanks for making that! It turned out darling!

  6. Your blog is good for my soul! This totally cheered me up this morning, and we both know how much I needed that. I LOVE the compartment organizer! And of course you sewed that in one day...I always loved it when my Mom would make some groovy thing to hold al our toys and such on car trips. It makes you want to be organized. Kids love that stuff!

Love the blanket, love your writing, love you - this was great.

  7. You would keel over dead if you saw how messy my car was after a road trip. It takes me about an hour to clean it when we get home. I would love a clean, organized car.

  8. I would like to order 2 of the car organizers! I know, I sew, I could do it myself, but it is so much nicer having someone else do it. I am serious! I need one in purple and one in pink for two little girly girls who live at my house.
