Birthday re-cap

One week ago was mine and Conner's birthdays. On the same day! One might think that it could be difficult sharing a birthday with their child, but I have found it to be a unique and a special experience to share with him. Even though in the future I will most likely be planning his birthday parties and running around like a mad woman on that day, I really don't seem to mind having his birthday celebration over shadow mine.

Me and Conner getting ready to blow out the candles on our cake. The cute little boy on the right is my nephew Jace. And guess what? His birthday is the same day also!!!! That's how we do it in our family. In fact his baby sister was just born on her daddy's birthday in August!

Whenever one of my kids has a birthday, I tend to reminisce about how fast time has gone by and how much they have changed. Conner's 1st birthday has been a little hard on me. It seems like it was just yesterday when I met Conner for the first time and he was placed in my arms. I was amazed at how tiny he was compared to his older brother and the color of his hair. The nurses commented on his frosted tips on his hair our entire stay at the hospital.

Conner has been such a wonderful blessing to our family. It took ten long years for him to arrive from heaven, but he was worth the wait.

Happy 1st birthday Conner!

  1. THANK YOU for giving him chocolate cake. I always wonder why moms get so disturbed about their babies getting chocolatey. I happen to think it makes them taste even better. Glad you and Conner had a great birthday together.

  2. What a great day for a birthday! It's my daughter's bday today too. Love the messy pictures. Too bad we can't still eat like that as adults.

  4. So fun! I can't believe how small he was. And look at him now. So big and still just as adorable. Happy Birthday to you both, a week ago. :)

  5. Wait until they are 6'2" and weigh over 200lbs. Then it is really hard to believe how tiny they once were. They seem to get more special as time goes by and you just love them more. Enjoy them while they are here for far too soon they are off to college and you never get to see them...

  6. It is so hard to believe that only a year ago you had just had him, and I was still pregnant and on bedrest. The time goes by way too fast. I am making Whitley a chocolate cake, too! It's much more fun! Can't wait to see you all in a couple of weeks!

  7. That is so neat you guys share birthdays. He is the cutest little guy, and is getting so big! We have to cherish every moment! Hey Jen, I'm making my blog private, so if you'd like to read my blog, just send me your email address and I'll put you on my list.

  8. YEAH!!!! Baby birthday pics! I love it! I wouldn't mind sharing my b-day with a child either - especially since you had to wait 10 years for him! Little one's birthdays ARE hard for me too.

Tell me what you think... only if it compliments me and my, sometimes humorous, sometimes weird, sometimes creative, post! No meanies allowed!
