Not a fan

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, we celebrated it by dressing up as a "supa hewo" and ate burritos and tacos for lunch. We are culturally diverse that way.

Conner insisted on wearing his costume today. In his own words he stated, "I wear my supa hewo costume, so evwee-wone can see me!" I told him it was St. Patrick's Day today and that he was suppose to wear green. His response was... "Dat's stupid!" And the way he said it - well, there was a hint of hostility in that response. I couldn't blame him.

It's no secret that I'm not much of a fan of the St. Patrick's Day. Flashbacks of being pinched, even though the stupid kids didn't notice that I WAS wearing green, are enough to make me wanna punch a leprechaun. Oh, I'm a fan of the color green! A big fan! It's the fact that one can be constantly pinched, over and over again for their choice of colored apparel, that ticks me off. I would finally resort to telling my fellow classmates that my eyes are green and that should be good enough! Dorks.

And then there is the fact that I'm not Irish. Hello! Not Irish! The holiday is suppose to be a religious holiday, which is often celebrated by getting drunk. Well of course! It's so obvious that one needs to get drunk on a RELIGIOUS holiday. Sheesh.

And then there's the whole turning your food green for your kids... I just read a comment on Facebook that this certain family was going to eat green chicken. Really? To me, that's just going too far. Green rice crispy treats - I'm a fan. Green pancakes - fan, also. Green eggs - not so much. I admire the mothers that go to such lengths for their children! I just know that with my kids, all of that food would go to waste. There is NO WAY Homey and Homeboy would eat green eggs!

Homeboy striking his "supa hewo" pose at the Mexican restaurant, on St. Patrick's Day.

Supa Hewo is able to climb tall walls, in a single bound. Then trip and fall, and take his anger out on the "tall wall" by kicking it. He has anger issues.

I know some of you are thinking, "how can you not be a fan of St. Patrick's Day?!?!?!" Well, I don't totally hate it.

Bagpipers - I'm a fan!

Creepy, little, men, wearing pointy shoes and smoking pipes - not a fan.

Green clovers - big fan. Look how pretty these are!

Lord of the Dance - fan. Even though he is dorky.

Liam Neeson - BIG fan. And it's fun saying his name with my awful, Irish accent.

Although I'm not much of a fan of the Irish holiday, I am a fan of the country and the people! What a beautiful country and such passionate people! You just won't catch me pinching people, eating green chicken or eggs and chasing weird, angry, little men.

Let me take a wild guess...

I'm thinkin' this guy isn't Irish either.

A Christmas to Remember

Awwww, Christmas... What can I say, but it was another Christmas to remember. I found last year's DVD of Christmas morning of my family. Steve recorded Conner waking up, when he was just a wee babe. I sobbed silently to myself. My baby is growing up.

This year if you recorded me waking up on Christmas morning, you would find me waking up at 5:00 a.m.. No, no-no, it was not by choice. The husband was snoring so loudly, he woke me from my peaceful somber. Turd.

A couple of days before Christmas, Cody and his friends went sledding... ATV style.

Here's my manly-man of a husband pulling Cody and his friends with our four-wheeler. He's a manly man, because only real men don't wear their winter coats outside, in the rigid winter air and snow. Oh no, a hoody will do.

Wipe out!

We also attended Cody's choir recital. Cody joining the choir was a complete shock. I believe he did it for the girls. The recital was silly, entertaining, and under one hour. Cody made silly faces at us and even managed to perform the little dance moves. I could tell it was torture for him.

Sorry about the quality of the picture. This is as good as it gets, when you are trying to take a picture and wrestle a toddler at the same time. Notice how he actually strikes a "smile" even in the middle of a performance? I'm telling ya, the kid has talents.

Christmas Eve was busy. We delivered the last of our "friends and neighbors" gifts, did some last minute shopping, cleaned the house, worked on the last order of ornaments, then spent the rest of the day, and majority of the night, sewing pajama bottoms for the three boys that I live with. I hadn't wrapped one gift and thanks to my Mom and Brothers, we managed to wrap all of the gifts before 1:00 a.m..

Here are the pajama bottoms that I slaved on all day and night on. I made them from soft fleece with pictures of vintage cowboys on them. So cute.

On Christmas morning, our rule is that no one can open gifts until 7:00 a.m.. It's mainly because I've been up until the wee hours of the night and I need my sleep. But since my husband's snoring woke me up at 5:00 a.m., I decided to make a breakfast casserole. Cody woke up at 5:30 a.m. and since he couldn't open any gifts yet, I made him help me make the casserole. How much do you want to make a bet he will stay in his room until 7:00 a.m. next year?

Cody opened gifts...

and Conner sat on the gifts.

The past 3 months, or so, Cody has tried to convince Santa (us) to get him Rock Band for Christmas. During the most inopportune various moments of silence, sleep, and even church, the words, "I want Rock Band" would burst out of Cody's mouth. We were worried he obtained a rare form of turrets. We got the hint.

Rock Band has brought out the Rock Stars, in us. Rock on Cody! Rock on Conner!

The husband did good this year and got me the fun and dandy software that can take off double chins and even add a hairy mole, if you would like. Oh yeah, he got me Photoshop Elements 7. There is much to learn. I learned to do this today. I likey.

This Christmas was memorable, mainly because of my family. I love them with all of my heart and feel so blessed to have them in my life. I hope all of your Christmas' were just as special!
